Stranahan also won the British
Amateur twice, 1948 and 1950. He
was never able to capture a U.S.
Amateur, but finished runner-up in
1950. He also finished runner-up in
the 1947 Masters Tournament and
his best finish in a U.S. Open was
a T-10 in the 1958 tournament held
at Southern Hills Country Club in
Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Frank Stranahan, who learned the
game at Inverness Club, was able to
compete around the world as one
of the best amateur golfers and as
an equal with the best professionals
of his age. A feat we are unlikely to
see again.
