I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY
to participate in three golf
happenings last month that
reinforce some of the many
reasons I love golf so much.
First, one of my sons was
able to join our team for
the Open Door Scramble at
White Pines. In past years
my partners for this event
have included two old guys
(liked me), Dan Donovan
and Jack Taylor; we always
have a great time.
Having Brandon along
for this event was extra
special. With the length that
accompanies youth, he was
a tremendous asset to our
team and we all enjoyed
watching his talent in
action. On the other hand,
he was also able to enjoy the
company of men more than
twice his age.
Second, I was privileged to
attend the Toledo Junior Golf Association’s (TJGA) season-ending Champions Banquet.
Several awards were handed
out.
It is always a pleasure to
see young people, who are
willing to put the time and
effort into achieving a goal,
being rewarded. The TJGA
is a wonderful organization
and has produced many
great golfers throughout its
history.
Third, while attending a
family gathering, I was able
to give some basic golf
lessons to two nieces and a
nephew, who range in age
from 4-7. The kids had a
great time batting wiffle golf
balls around the yard and
hopefully, will continue to
be interested in golf as they
grow.
Golf can connect young
children, teenagers, young
adults and even senior
citizens. It is a game for all
ages.
I hope you enjoy the August
Issue of NWO Golf Links
and I will catch you on the
“Back 9.”

world is when one
is playing golf
