Golfers Need to

NWO Golf Links

WHEN WATCHING GOLF ON

TELEVISION,

you frequently

hear people yelling random

phrases as someone tees off.

You Da Man.

This has become

a common phenomenon on golf

telecasts. These tiresome phrases

have trickled down to the local

courses.

If I hear

“Get in the hole”

one

more time, I swear I am going to

stuff the person that said it into

the hole. It is time to get original

people. Set the creative side of

your brain free and come up with

new material.

The following are a few examples

that are part of the

“Ultimate

Foursome’s”

vernacular to help

you in this quest.

“YOU CAN ALWAYS MAKE A

PUTT!”

I agree it may be a little weak and

you may not always be sincere

in uttering this phrase, when

your opponent is trying to hole

a long snake to grab a five dollar

bill from your pocket. But deep

emotional qualities of truth are

hidden within these few words.

You can have a triple-breaker

from 60 feet away, but if the Golf

Gods decide you are worthy of

break, well

“You can always

make a Putt.”

My so-called golf buddies and

I have actually experienced it.

Once in a heated playoff at the

end of a Ryder-Cup-style match,

everyone was holding up their cell

phone lights, because the sun had

set and the green was shrouded

in darkness. My friend, whom I

like very much, when he is on my

team (as far as he knows) is not

the best putter in the world, but

“You can always make a putt.”

The rest is golfing history.

“EVERYBODY HAS A BAD DAY!”

This is a quote we

use on the

golf course quite fre

quentl

y. It

encompasses various situations

and golfing maladies, from hitting

a bad shot, to having a bad

round or even making an unwise

wardrobe selection.

The birth of a golf phrase can be

derived from an accidental slip of

the tongue. One such phrase was

born on the first tee, the morning

after a late night of exuberant

imbibing of adult beverages.

Suffice it to say, actions that

occurred among the golf group

involved in off-the-course-social-

activities at the bar the night

before, caused this phrase. It has

stuck around since then.
