HELENE THOMAN I

S A

FINANCIAL ADVISER

for

Morgan Stanley, but still finds

time to maintain a 3 Handicap at

the Inverness Club. From earning

a college golf scholarship, to

meeting clients on the golf

course, golf has been a big part

of her life.

Her father was a confirmed

“Golfaholic” and was the original

influence that brought her to golf.

From the age of five, he would

take Helene and her brother to

the course. She slowly graduated

from just wanting to drive the

cart to actually enjoying the

challenge of playing the game.

Her family originally resided

in Chicago and were members

of famed Medinah Country

Club. She came to appreciate

classic golf architecture at a very

young age. The family moved to

Cleveland and became members

of Lakewood Country Club. That

is where she began to hone her

skills as a serious amateur golfer.

Like every junior golfer, she had

golf idols. Davis Love III, Chi Chi

Rodriguez and Corey Pavin were

early favorites.

When Annika Sorenstam was

winning on the LPGA Tour, she

strived to emulate her calm

demeanor and grace on the

course.

Helene received attention as

a junior golfer and accepted a

scholarship to play golf at Stetson

College in Florida. After her

Sophomore year, she transferred

to the University of Toledo and

played on teams coached by

Claire Batista.

Thoman had a solid collegiate

career and still embraces

the friendships made with

teammates, at both UT and

Stetson. She was a true student-

athlete and earned Academic

All-American honors, while with

the Rockets.

After graduation from UT in

2004, she worked for Inverness

Club’s Director of Golf, who was

David Graf at the time, both in

the pro shop and offering golf

instruction. Winters were spent

at Lake Nona Golf Club in

Orlando, Florida.A member of

Inverness, Alan Fadel, knew of

Helene’s degree in Finance from

the University of Toledo and

influenced her to enter the world

of personal financial planning.
