Playoffs Signal
End to 2016
Once the Olympic golf event
is concluded in Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil, on August 14, the
top 125 players on the PGA
Tour will switch their focus
to the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
The playoffs consist of four
tournaments that bring an
end to the 2016 season and
provide a boat load of money
to be divided among touring
professionals. It is the real
reason many of the big-name
professional golfers opted to
skip the Olympics and rest up
at home.
The Barclays is the first stop,
August 25-28 and will be held
at one of the most difficult and
demanding A.W. Tillinghast
designs, Bethpage Black. Only
100 players will qualify for the
next stop, the Deutsche Bank
Championship held at TPC
Boston, which allows New
Englandareagolf fans achance
to see the pros in action. The
field will be cut to 70 players
for the BMW Championship
at Crooked Stick, September

1991 PGA Championship, as
the eighth alternate
After the BMWChampionship
the field will be limited to
just 30 players invited to
East Lake Country Club in
Atlanta for the season-ending
Tour Championship. The
Tour Championship does
not receive enough credit. It
is the pinnacle of golf. The
major championships get
all the glory, but these are
professional golfers and the
only true way to keep score
is, who wins the most money.
