Golfers Need “The Process”
We read and hear a lot about “The Process.”
What is it and why is it important?
In July, Henrik Stenson won
the Open Championship
at Royal Troon and joined
a distinguished list of Pete
Cowen pupils to win a
major
championship.
A
list that includes; Danny
Willett, Darren Clarke, Louis
Oosthuizen and Graeme
McDowell. LeeWestwood and
Sergio Garcia have also been
long-time Cowen students.
CowenhasworkedwithHenrik
Stenson since 2001 and has
witnessed him rebound from
two serious setbacks, while
accepting the challenge to
continually improve. Cowen
said that Stenson does not care
about what he did yesterday,
but wants to know how he can
improve today.
He believes that the climb
to reach for the stars, “The
Process,” is much more
satisfying than the realization
that you have reached the top.
The annuls of golf or any
sport is filled with athletes
that wanted to be the best,
but would not commit to a
plan or embrace the process
necessary to reach their goal.
