The USGA, wanting to recognize the best
young golfers in the country, created the
U. S. Junior Amateur Championship in
1948. In fact, their first tournament was
held in Ann Arbor at the University of
Michigan Golf Course, with Dean Lind
from Rockford, Illinois, beating a young
Ken Venturi in the final.
The USGA is bringing this national event
to Toledo’s iconic Inverness Club for the
2019 U.S. Junior Amateur. By hosting
this event, Inverness becomes the first
and only club to have hosted the U.S.
Open, U.S. Senior Open, U.S. Amateur
and U.S. Junior Amateur Championships.
