In 2003 Joshua Jacobs had
an idea to use innovative
methods to train children in
golf. TGA Premier Junior Golf
was franchised in 2007 and
TGA Premier Youth Tennis
was founded in partnership
with the United States Tennis
Association four years later.
TGA is an acronym for,
Teach,
Grow, Achieve
and has
grown to become the largest
provider of individualistic
youth sports programs in the
United States. Their programs
are offered through schools,
community centers, golf
courses and tennis facilities.
Before or after school
programs, camps, leagues,
play days and family events
are perfect venues for using
the TGA training system to
help children grow and learn.
TGA doesn’t stop with sports
alone, they use a multi-level,
station based curriculum,
that incorporates science,
technology, engineering, arts
and mathematics (STEAM),
to teach life skills, character
development,
physical
fitness, in addition to the rules
and sports etiquette.
Through their unique educational
format, basic life skills such as,
respect, honesty, perseverance
and sportsmanship are built into
each lesson plan.
When Jacobs could not find
acceptable equipment that
could be adapted to smaller
hands and golf swings, he
developed a TGA Brand of
clubs and equipment for use
in his teaching programs. The
equipment can be used either
indoors or outside, which
adds to the flexibility of the
teaching system.
Although there are other
junior golf training programs,
The First Tee, PGA Junior Golf
League, andYouth on Course,
Jacobs feels that TGA offers
a complimentary teaching
program that fits nicely
with those existing junior
programs and can provide a
