ALABAMA REAPS THE REWARD OF
THE ROBERT TRENT JONES GOLF
M
OST GOLFERS IN
the
northern portion of the
United States are familiar with
Alabama’s Robert Trent Jones
(RTJ) Golf Trail, but they don’t
know how it came about.
The Retirement System of Alabama (RSA) has beenmanaged by David Bronner
since 1973. His stated mission
for the investment fund has
always been to effectively
diversify the assets of the
state's pension fund to help
the state.
The philosophy being, a
stronger Alabama will make
a more lucrative Retirement
Systems of Alabama.
He found the idea of a system
of golf facilities throughout
the state of Alabama to be a
perfect fit for that investment
philosophy.
Bronner grew up in the upper
Midwest and worked in his
father’s pool hall. He learned
early the tenets of hard work
and the basics of business.
He continued his education
at Mankato State University
earning a Bachelor’s, as well
as, a Master’s Degree in
Finance. He later added a
PHD and Law degrees from
the University of Alabama
before taking his combined
education and skill set to
the Retirement System of
Alabama.
