The traffic in Chicago is always an
adventure, but with visions of golf balls
dancing in their heads, they made the
perilous journey relatively unscathed.
Visitors to either Blackwolf Run or
Whistling Straits can stay at the five-star
AmericanClub, which sits directly across the street
from the Kohler Company’s world headquarters.
There are also other suitable lodging options and
our group chose to stay at the Inn at Woodlake,
which as you could imagine is decked out with
the latest in plumbing technology.
Andrew Brown was quite impressed with the
shower in his room,
“Just taking a stimulating shower with several of
the latest high-jet Kohler shower heads soothing
every muscle in your body, was worth the trip.”
TheAmerican Club and the staffs at bothWhistling
Straits and Blackwolf Run are all about service.
Brown also said,
“This is not your average golf trip. It’s a “Bucket
List” trip that is to be enjoyed and savored. The
accommodations and service from every single
staff member is impeccable. They anticipate
your every need and the food is outstanding and
plentiful.”
When our local golfers were at Whistling Straits,
preparations for the PGA Tour were in full swing
and the grandstands were being built. Being
along the western coast of Lake Michigan, water
comes into play on many holes and fog can roll
in to add to the aesthetic of the course.
Whistling Straits requires players to walk the
course and local caddies must be used. The
caddies are invaluable in assisting with yardages
and course knowledge.
When their roundwas over they found the veranda
at the beautifully adorned stone clubhouse at
Whistling Straits provided the perfect place settle
up the day’s wagers and soak up more views over
Lake Michigan.
Having tested their games where the pros play
and enjoyed the service and amenities of the best
that Wisconsin can offer, our intrepid foursome
returned to Toledo with a new appreciation of the
course they will see, when the professionals tackle
Whistling Straits for the PGA Championship.
