Adam Reny is a former caddie
who has gone on to bigger and
better things, but still enjoys
the occasional loop. He began
caddying at the age of 13 for
the members at Inverness and
continued the job through high
school, eventually earning an
Evans Scholarship to attend
Ohio State University.
After graduation, he took a
sales job outside of golf for a
few years, but wound up back
at Inverness as the Caddie
Master. He ran the caddie
program and taught young
men and women how to
correctly perform the duties
necessary to serve a golfer.
In 2015, Reny accepted the
position as Executive Director
of
The First Tee of Lake Erieand after trying to continue
as Caddie Master, decided
both jobs demanded too
much time and resigned from
Inverness.
When the LPGA Tour visits
Toledo each year for the
Marathon Classic, a few of
the newer players on tour
do not have regular caddies
and seek a local caddie
for the week. This year the
Marathon Classic extended a
sponsor’s exemption to Duke
University Freshman, Virginia
Elena Carta, who won the
2016 NCAA Division 1
Championship and Reny was
contacted by tournament
director Judd Silverman, to
locate a suitable caddie.
Reny met with Carta and
the two immediately hit it
off and he offered to serve
as her caddie for the week.

Carta is an excellent ball-striker. It is only a matter of time
before we will see her on tour regularly
