Winter
Golf
Golfers in the Ohio area have
had some excellent weather
this winter! I personally
didn’t put my clubs away until
Christmas week and nearly
put them back in the trunk in
January. But as February rolls
in with snow and freezing
temperatures, I’ve resigned to
hunker in for the winter.
Other than playing mental golf,
what can you do to prepare for
spring rounds? Here are some
suggestions to help keep you
grooved until the spring thaw.
I keep an old wedge by the
backdoor and every time I take
the garbage out or let the dog
run, I always pick up that iron and
take a few strokes. This repetitive
process has done wonders for my
tempo and accuracy, although
my wife is going to kill me, when
she sees all the divots in the
backyard. Maybe I can blame it
on the squirrels.
Taking a trip to my local
hardware store, I picked up
a 20x20 remnant of indoor
plastic grass. Laying that in
my basement I now have one
awesome putting surface. It
rolls much better than the
upstairs shag carpet. I’ve also
added a few plastic flags,
