When Judd Silverman first had the idea of
bringing a professional golf tournament to
Toledo, one of his main goals was to help area
charities. To that end, the Jamie Farr Toledo
Classic and now the Marathon Classic has
donated a total of $9.2 million to 152 area
organizations dedicated to helping children.
In 2015 alone, $582,000 was generated and
distributed to 19 area organizations. Silverman
has set an aggressive goal to reach the $10
million total mark in 2016.
Marathon Classis is Kid Friendly
The LPGATour and the Marathon Classic always
strive to make the tournament an enjoyable
adventure for children. Tour players seek out
and interact with the kids, plus the ‘Kids Zone’
features fun activities for children during the
week of the tournament at Highland Meadows.
A Scavenger Hunt will be ongoing all four days of
the tournament. Team mascots from the Walleye,

title at the 31
st
edition of the Marathon Classic presented by Owens Corning and O-I. It, once
again, features the best collection of women golfers from around the world and raises hundreds
of thousands of dollars for area children’s charities in the process. Nine of the Top Ten women on
the Rolex Ranking have plans to be in Toledo, July 14-17,
plus the final round will be televised
nationally on CBS.
