As golfers prepare to hit the fairways, their yells of “
FORE
” might easily
be replaced by yells of
“SORE”
if they didn’t take the time to prepare
their bodies for the new season.
Due to the repetitive nature of the sport,
golfers have a tendency to suffer injuries to
their lower back, shoulder, wrists, and elbows.
Couple this with muscles gone dormant
during the off-season or strained through
winter activities, such as shoveling snow,
one can quickly see how their performance
on the greens may seem underwhelming, if
not painful. Fortunately sports massage can
help to release and improve muscle function.
It also helps prepare the body for optimal
performance and can prevent injuries.
Sports massage therapy combines several
different massage techniques, including
medical, trigger point, stretching, and
resistance to help ease soft tissue fatigue,
pain, or injury. Swedish massage may be used
to energize and invigorate sore, tired muscles
and can be used in conjunction, with deep
tissue massage, to release knots in muscles.
Regular sports-massage sessions can correct
muscle imbalance that lead to poor posture.
