In 1929, when Riverby Hills
Golf Club first opened, it
billed itself as the “Sportiest
Club in the Country,” and was
originally opened as a “pay
as you play” 27-hole, semi-
public golf course.
During WW II the course
served as a testing ground for
Jeeps being prepared to fight
the Germans and Japanese.
Willys’ engineers would
race the four-wheel military
vehicles up and down the
steep hills at Riverby Hills to
adequately prepare them to
