Memorial Day signals the beginning of summer vacations, reunions and
family outings. It is also a time to remember those who gave the ultimate
sacrifice for our country. In this issue we recognize a few of golf’s more
famous names that interrupted their careers to serve their country.
There are several opportunities for area golf fans to catch live golf action
this summer. Of course the Marathon Classic will host the best women
golfers in July at Highland Meadows, but a new event, the Volvik LPGA
Championship, will be held inAnnArbor over theMemorial Dayweekend.
In addition, the USGA will hold its Amateur Championship in Detroit at
famed Oakland Hills and the U.S. Open is just a four-hour drive away at
Pittsburgh’s Oakmont Country Club.
Don’t forget the Memorial Tournament will be held at Jack Nicklaus’
MuirfieldVillage Golf Club June 2-5.

southern-most end of Myrtle Beach, by Pawley’s Island. We had the chance
to visit
Kiawah Island in Apriland it is one of the most enjoyable resorts we
have ever visited. My wife and I both cannot wait to return to the wonderful
beach, golf and relaxed atmosphere that surrounds Kiawah Island.
