One member of the group,
local attorney Steven Burke
told us that simply standing
on the tee box at the famed
17
th
at The Old Course, with
The R&A Clubhouse in the
background, brought tears to
his eyes. When he recovered,
he saw all of the ball marks
on the Old Course Hotel wall
and hoped he would not add
yet another.
Burke’s story at St. Andrews
had a happy ending,
however. A solid drive at
the “Road Hole” followed
by a hybrid to the green, led
to an eight-foot birdie putt,
that somehow found the cup
and created the memory of a
life time.
Burke felt the trip met all
of his expectations and
recommends that anyone
thinking of traveling to the
U.K. contact a planning
service to help with
arrangements.
A golf trip to Scotland left
eight Toledo-area golfers
with enough memories to
last a life time.
