Whenmost fans thinkof golf in
West Virginia, the Greenbrier,
Glade Springs or Stonewall,
immediately come to mind,
but another historic location
that will impress is Oglebay
Park Resort in Wheeling.
Cleveland industrialist, EarlW.
Oglebay officially purchased
the land in 1900 and set about
improving the estate for the
next 25 years. Upon his death
in 1926, he willed the land to
the city of Wheeling, with the
caveat that it had to be used
for public recreation.
Today this beautiful property
is a municipal park owned
by the city, but don’t let
that fool you. This is a first-
class golf destination with a
myriad of activities to please
every member of your family.
Oglebay Park is completely
self-supporting and has a
continuous modernization
program that touches all areas
of the resort.
The spacious rooms are
constantly updated and

courses undergo scheduled
