Because it sits at such a high elevation, golf
becomes secondary as gorgeous vistas can be
viewed for up to 30 miles on a clear day.
The PGA of America held the 2010 PGA National
Professional Championship on the course
and it has since hosted the 2015 Senior PGA
Championship. It was won by ColinMontgomerie
and is a major on the Champions Tour.
Pete’s wife, Alice is always involved with any
design the Dye family tackles and she made
sure the French Lick course was playable for
women. The LPGA Legends Tour holds an
event on the Pete Dye Course every year.
The
2016 Legends Championship ,which
features the best women golfers from the past
30 years, will be held August 19-21 on the Pete
Dye Course at French Lick. Lori Kane won the
inaugural Legends Championship in 2013,
Laurie Rinker hoisted the trophy in 2014 and
Julie Inkster captured the title last year. Players
in the field for 2016 include, Hall of Fame
members, Laura Davies, Donna Caponi and
Sandra Haynie.
In addition, Alice Dye even hosts her own
tournament that attracts women from all over
the country to travel to French Lick for the Alice Dye Invitational . The 2016 tournament will beheld August 7-9.
